Photoperiod on growth and egg characteristics of the white leghorn chicken

One hundred and twenty (120) 16 weeks old White Leghorn layer breeds were used for the study. The objective of study was to determine effect photoperiod on chicken. research carried out at Poultry Section Animal farm Department Science Education, Akenten Appiah-Menka University Skills Training Entrepreneurial Development, Mampong. Four treatments made up 12 hours light, 14 light 18 Each treatment replicated three times with 10 birds per replicate in a Completely Randomized Design. Birds exposed equally common daylight evenings, lights turned specified periods. Growth parameters measured initial body weight, daily feed intake, weight gain final weight. Egg traits egg albumen height, yolk color data collected analyzed using General Linear Model procedure Statistical Analysis System. Results from indicated that, varied regimes had no significant (P>0.05) intake but (P<0.05) growth traits. Photoperiod characteristics white bird. It concluded increasing positive layer.
